Training Costs
Flight Training
Flight instruction is scheduled for a "BLOCK" of 2.5 hours for each lesson. The Block includes one hour of flight instruction, and 1.5 hours of ground instruction. Ground instruction consists of a discussion of the lesson, preflight preparation, postflight critique, and filling out the student's logbook.
"BASIC RATE" FOR A "BLOCK" LESSON --- $210
This includes one hour of flight time and 1.5 hours of
ground time.
"STANDARD RATE" (FLIGHT TIME PER HOUR) --- $150
This is flight instruction in excess of the Block.

DISCOUNTS TO THE BLOCK RATE
- There is a discount of $10 if the instruction is paid for by check in advance.
- (Payment by credit card is not available.)
- There is a $10 discount if the payment is made after the lesson in cash.
- There is a $20 discount if the payment is made before the lesson, in cash.
- Summary: the cost of the 2.5-hour Block is $190 if paid in cash in advance.

The cost is $150 per hour of flight time in excess of the one hour of flight time allocated in the Block. The additional flight time is calculated in 6-minute increments (which is $15 for each 6 minutes.) This is the "STANDARD RATE" per hour of flight instruction.
NOTE: The "Hobbs Meter" on the aircraft records flight time in 6-minute intervals. Therefore, flight time in excess of one hour is charged in 6-minute increments (1/10th of an hour.)
DISCOUNTS (PER HOUR) TO THE $150-PER-HOUR STANDARD RATE.
- There is a discount of $5 if the instruction is paid for by check in advance.
- There is a $5 discount if the payment is made after the lesson in cash.
- There is a $10 total discount if the payment is made in cash in advance.
- If payment is made in cash in advance the cost of flight instruction (in excess of the Block) is $140 per hour ($14 per 6-minute increments.)

Ground instruction:
- $40 per hour for individual instruction
- $25 per hour for two students at the same time
- $20 per hour for three or more students at the same time
Note: the cost of ground instruction for the 2.5-hour block is already included.

Instruction in your own aircraft: $50 per hour with a $100 minimum payment. Ten per cent discount for payment in advance in cash.

Rough Guestimate - Sport Pilot Certificate
Since flight and ground time varies depending on a number for factors, including: student’s previous experience with aviation, how regularly the student can come for instruction, time available for study, etc., it is difficult to estimate total costs. However, here is a rough guestimate at minimum requirements:
$3,500 - $5,500, depending on certificate
